Things to Know

Helpful Tips, Reminders, and Requests

The restoration to The Moose included many structural and cosmetic improvements to both the interior and exterior of the log cabin, but it was important to us that the original character be preserved. As a result, there are things of which you should be aware.

NO SMOKING is allowed in the cabin or within 50 feet of the exterior (the fire pit is a great space for this activity).

WATCH YOUR HEAD when you go up and down the stairs. This is an authentic log cabin and the stairwell head height was not designed for those of any height.

DO NOT LEAN on the upstairs banister. Again, this is an authentic log cabin built before 1926, please have your entire party respect the history you are enjoying.

The WOOD STOVE is for show only and does not function. The PELLET STOVE is fully functional, so please enjoy it’s warmth on those cool evenings and mornings.

GAMES, VIDEOS, and BOOKS are available for your use and enjoyment. We simply ask that you return them to where you found them when you are finished.

THE MOOSE’ BACKYARD ends at the fence line directly behind the cabin. The land on the other side of the fence is privately owned, and we respectfully request you do not go onto their property. There’s plenty of public land to explore, no need to trespass.

SORRY, we don’t allow pets.

LAST THING, The Moose is nearly 100 years old, we’ve done our best to seal it to keep nature on the outside; however, you are now in the wilderness and there are numerous four-legged and winged critters that won’t mind visiting if doors or windows are left open. It’s your vacation, make it the experience you want!
