Mike and Sherry (that’s us) are typically very spontaneous and enjoy adventures of many types and venues, including real estate. We purchased 60 Mooseberry (aka The Moose Bunkhouse) on a collective “whim” in May 2018. We “name”, our properties based on where they are or how they relate to our business / lives. For example, the “Burg” is our Williamsburg, Virginia home; the “Saint” is our Old Town Alexandria condo on St. Asaph ST, and the “Outhouse”, well let’s just say that is a unique reference. So, 60 Mooseberry was easy.
It was December 28th, 2018, and we were sitting on a bench in Ocean Beach Park, CA. Earlier we had spent the morning sightseeing in the quaint Danish village of Solvang, CA. Prior to Solvang, we had been in San Diego, spending Christmas at our favorite San Diego hotel (the Bayfront). As we sat there on the warm sunny beach, we were discussing options for New Years Eve. We are not entirely certain why, but we decided we should go to Yellowstone National Park (probably because it was really different). So, the next morning we drove back to our home in the Mojave Desert, repacked the car, and headed to West Yellowstone. We arrived on December 30th and this is where the adventure really began; typically, on our rides to wherever (most of them average about 8 to 10 hours), we spend a great deal of time discussing the various “balls in the air” we have juggling in our busy lives. On this particular drive, out of the blue someone (he will remain nameless), suggested we should buy a home in West Yellowstone. After laughing it off and a couple hours later, the shopper of our duo stated that she had found the house online that we were going to buy. On December 31st, after spending the night in Salt Lake City and an exhilarating “ice trucker” road experience between Idaho Falls and West Yellowstone, we met the real estate agent at The Moose (it was -4 degrees). And here we are.
